Mark and JJ are so excited about the upcoming July 1st show at the Black Sheep, that they've decided to pay an inspection-type visit to the historic inn, mainly to check that the fridges are properly calibrated to ensure maximum beverage enjoyment. There is really only one way to do this.

They also checked to make sure that the awesome Fiftymen promotional juggernaut had swung into action. It had. It had.

On the first day of summer in the Gatineau Hills, you can see such indigenous creatures as:
The Mayfly...

...The Luna Moth...
.

...and after a couple of cold ones, Spider-Boy.

Mark and JJ are but entymological hobbyists, but they are pretty happy with the day's sightings.
Everything seems to be shaping up here in Wakefield. Stay tuned for more updates on the upcoming show.

Your (relatively) sane Canada Day alternative is a go. Make a day of it: head up early and celebrate small-town style. Fun for the whole family. A parade; a flotilla; tons of games and activities for the kids; food; beer tent; musical performances all afternoon...all at the Wakefield Recreation Centre.

What a fantastic operation Elaina and her team are running down there in Westboro. Never mind the impressive musical line-up - consisting of exclusively Canadian and primarily local performers - this is a three day extravaganza featuring visual and performance art, dance, literary/spoken word events, stuff for the kids, food galore...if only we could be fed by Mike Beck of Dish Catering, and have flamenco dancers before every show. The entire crew of organizers and volunteers put together an amazing week-end. Congratulations.

After a lay-off of several months, it was great to get back out and play a couple of shows. The evening at the Elmdale was a fantastic experience, and we'd like to thank John, Gord, Ray, and Sam for all of their efforts. And thanks to Sam at the Cadillac Lounge in TO for hosting us at the end of May. His gracious hospitality does not go unappreciated. A special nod to the Ottawa folks who flew in for the show is definitely warranted as well. And we shouldn't forget the Toronto Roller Derby League girls who rolled in. Can't forget, more like.

We'll be picking and grimacing at the Westfest on Sunday night, starting at 9:30pm. Make a week-end of it...there's a ton of great bands and lots of other stuff to do. And it's free. See you in Westboro.
